I was diagnosed with early stage of breast cancer and from pre diagnosis to diagnosis and the journey from then has of course been difficult but the hospital staff have been absolutely incredible. They have been patient and caring and have explained everything to me every step of the way. The surgeon was amazing. I wanted to really thank you all and the NHS for doing such an incredible and challenging role and I am now cancer free and will be very looked after for the next 5 years.

Review of Community Care (Postnatal)
12th October 2022

In those first few days when you feel vulnerable and tired, I always felt supported and comforted. I feel lucky that I’ll have lovely memories of my care and am only sad we don’t get the postnatal care for longer.

Suggested improvements
I feel the postnatal care could do with being a little longer. Goodbyes are hard when you’re hormonal!

Review of Community Care (Antenatal)
12th October 2022

My midwife, Jo Humphrey (Crowborough birthing centre), has been such a huge support and always made me feel safe, informed and excited. She always advocated for me and pushed for the best birth plan after being diagnosed with OC. I can’t thank her enough for the care over the years, and feel quite emotional about this chapter of motherhood being over. My experience has been perfect for me, and I have only positive things to say.

Suggested improvements
Bring back continuity of care for cases where it is beneficial or a preference

Review of Home Birth
30th June 2021

I had a home birth assisted by midwives Laura Denny and Natasha Morrison on 21/6/2021. I had the most positive experience: midwives were available for home birth, were dispatched quickly and when arrived were very respectful of my birth wishes i.e. hypnobirthing (dimmed lights, calming music, no chatting). They provided a fantastic service, helping me during all stages of labour, with reassurance, empathy, but also confident guidance. I couldn't be more happy with my experience of the service.

Suggested improvements
Please see above - my expectations were exceeded, nothing could have been done better

Staff was amazing!! Continuously asking if I was ok alongside my partner. Made sure we was comfortable and offered lots of teas and coffees with a bonus of toast and jam which went down very well after baby was born and in the morning being offered some breakfast. Can’t fault any of the staff they was fantastic. Thank you to Lindsey and the rest of the night staff who helped deliver Baby Harper on 4th Feb 2020 at 23:38pm. Lots of Love Alexandria, Martin and baby Harper x

Review of Crowborough Birth Centre written by a patient

The care and support provided by the midwives and midwife support team allowed me to have the birth I needed. Thanks to the dedication and belief of the team I can look back on my birth with pride and power. I was supported from the beginning with Chloe facilitating my transfer on the day of my labour with dedication that made me feel valued and seen from the start. I was greeted by Katie who was there throughout my birth, stating present and guiding me. Katie ensured my wishes were heard and that I was involved in all decision making. Siohaben, the senior midwife was able to ground me and through that kept me connected to the birthing process and I was able to deliver naturally. The aftercare was exceptional. Being able to share a bed with my partner in a room that felt homely and safe was the perfect way for us to begin life as a family. Guidance was provided around feeding and sleeping and I feel more prepared and confident as a result. All facilities were clean, warm and accessible and the general atmosphere was one of safety and calm. I cannot thank all the team enough for the care and support provided during what I now understand to be one of the most important transitions of my life. Thank you to all the team at Crowborough, I hope to see more midwife-led units open across the country to provide women in the UK the care and support they deserve.
